DEPARTMENT OF ART AND CULTURE: WORKING IN THE DISTRICT LEVEL PAPUMPARE DISTRICT.


Major activities of the Department are :-

  1. To ensure the display of culture programmes during important days in the district. 

  2. To put in effort to construct & maintain community Halls, Cultural Halls, Lapangs etc in the district.

  3. To organize Bharat Darshan/ see your state programme for the villagers to make them understand the cultural of other parts of the country & vise - versa.

  4. To give financial assistance for procurement of traditional dresses, musical instrument, ornaments etc. to small cultural organization.

  5. To make the people of the district participate in the inter district/inter state cultural exchange programme.

  6. To encourage documentation of traditional life style in respect of dances, festival, fine arts, etc.

  7. To identity encourage and send local artician etc. for training.

  8. To encourage the the use of local naming, dresses, language etc. in the daily life. 

 

 

 

The Department of Art and Culture in the District endeavors to work for promotion, preservation and development of age-old cultural heritage of the Nyisi (Dafla) tribes, who are the local residents of the district. Various folklores, folk songs etc that depicts the tradition, culture and history of the Nyisi people are needed to be preserved for posterity as some of them are on the verge of extinction because of threat from outside culture and their influence on young generation. These folklore and folk songs are to be preserved in their original and traditional forms. The Department of Art & Culture tries to ensure that in the midst of assimilation of various cultures of the country, the cultural heritage of the people of the state, especially of Nyisi people is preserved and efforts made for their promotion and development. With this aim in view the Department is implementing various schemes through Government Agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations.

           In an attempt to promote, preserve and develop the dying cultural heritage of the people the Deptt has registered many societies under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. They are as under:

  1. Abotani Ashram Welfare Society,  Naharlagun.
  2.  Arunachal Socio-cultural Development Society, Naharlagun
  3. Dr. D. Ering fellowship centre, Naharlagun. Beside many minor societies have been registered and this is a continuous process.
