Major activities of the Department are :-
|
The Department of Art and Culture in the District endeavors to work for promotion, preservation and development of age-old cultural heritage of the Nyisi (Dafla) tribes, who are the local residents of the district. Various folklores, folk songs etc that depicts the tradition, culture and history of the Nyisi people are needed to be preserved for posterity as some of them are on the verge of extinction because of threat from outside culture and their influence on young generation. These folklore and folk songs are to be preserved in their original and traditional forms. The Department of Art & Culture tries to ensure that in the midst of assimilation of various cultures of the country, the cultural heritage of the people of the state, especially of Nyisi people is preserved and efforts made for their promotion and development. With this aim in view the Department is implementing various schemes through Government Agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations. In an attempt to promote, preserve and develop the dying cultural heritage of the people the Deptt has registered many societies under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. They are as under:
Beside many minor societies have been registered and this is a continuous process.
